Real name - Catarina Sandu. She is a singer and a violinist. She took her first music lessons from her sister at the age of 7, at the age of 8 she firmly decided to study violin. Her main inspiration was a movie called “Amadeus”.
For many years after, violin was her main focus in life and she participated in many music competitions as well as played in the National Youth Orchestra. At that time, singing was just a hobby for MANOUKI. It started becoming more important in her late teenage years. At the age of 17 she started singing in some of her town’s coffee shops and sometimes at different events, being a part of a band called “Live Beat“.
After graduating high-school, Manouki decided to study vocal jazz at the National Conservatory. She also studied at the “Agostino Steffani” Conservatory in Italy for a trimester, taking part in a student exchange program between the institutions.
At the age of 20 she participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, being a part of the backing vocals for Sunstroke Project. Their performance was a major success, bringing home 3rd place, best result for Moldova yet. Also, in 2017 Manouki participated in Romania’s “Voice” and released her first song “The Room” in collaboration with Ray Bark.
Her next song was “MANGO”, followed then by “Hai Stai” – a romanian/english song in collaboration with the world-wide famous artist BROONO.
She became even more well-known after participating at the National Eurovision Selection with the song “Die For You” in 2020.
During the pandemic period, MANOUKI realized she wants to change her style and dig into a different type of music.
The name MANOUKI was adopted in June 2020, after she started collaborating frequently with the “Ragoza Music” record label.
